Hey All...

Went to bed last night with a Windows 7 update pending. Woke up this morning and my computer was on but the screens wouldn't come on and the keyboard & mouse didn't have any power (caps lock wouldnt come on, no optical light from mouse).

When I try rebooting the computer it, my screens never turn on (the power light on screens remains yellow/orange, never goes to blue) and my mouse & keyboard never get power either regardless of which USB slot I plug them into.

The CPU LED light remains lit RED after booting. Also, during one reboot session it gave me an error message about my BIOS saying to put a USB in with file named SABERX79.CAP or insert my Sabertooth Support CD. I put the Support CD in and nothing happened. I've been unable to get that error message to display since then.

My ASUS Sabertooth manual says to do the USB FLashback with file named SABERX79.ROM but the actual error message I was shown, and other people online, say to use SABERX79.CAP. Also, when I download the actual files from asus.com it comes as .CAP

When researching online some people seem to say this red CPU LED being lit is caused by my power supply going bad, or a power supply connector going bad? Some also say that Asus uses the CPU LED being lit red to indicate Bios needed to be flashed back? Does anyone know which is correct? And if it is the BIOS, am I flashing it back incorrectly?

Hi, I just picked up another power supply from the store. I replaced the old power supply and all connectors and powered it up. I'm still getting no screen display/post/boot and the CPU LED is still bright solid red.

All of this occurred after a Windows update and have seen a BIOS message being displayed as well

I tried doing a flashback update to 4801. I don't know what it was prior to this issue, though.

Could the Windows 7 update cause an issue with the BIOS?

Thanks

The update which caused the initial problem was a Windows 7 update. There wasn't any indication that the flashback BIOS update failed; it went through the blinking and then turned solid. The flashback BIOS update did not resolve the issue of no screen/no kb or mouse/CPU LED solid red.

It was flashing for a while... and the flashing would get faster towards the end. Then it became solid.

Did you remember the 8-pin cpu power connector? I didnt and got that same red light :), took me a while to find it since it was blocked by my water cooler radiator...
