Hello :)

I just received the processors and installed them in order to test if they were ok, one of the processors is working fine, recognizing all my memory (64gb of ram) but the other is not recognizing 2 dims of ram, (48gb of ram) in the same motherboard and all things equal.

I changed the memory dims and same thing,

updated bios and same thing.

I tried the first processor and everything is detected (8 dimm, 64gb of ram), put the 2nd one and the problem persist. just 48 gb or ram recognized.

they are used, from a japan seller with plenty sold and perfect review score. I took a great look to each of them and the one working has all the contact for the motherboard pins clean, the one not recognizing all ram looks like there are some of the contacts "dirty" but Im not sure, maybe they are scratched? oohhh well, some help please :)

motherboard is an asus usb 3.1 x99-pro latest bios.

Thank you!

Dirty contacts will absolutely cause memory issues like that. You can use a pencil eraser to clean them (then wipe away with a lint free cloth and rubbing alcohol).

The other issue is are these genuine processors or Intel ES processors? If they are ES you got ripped off, they are property of Intel and Often can have problems such as you described. Theres a reason they are so cheap.

Thank you so much for your reply, I will do as you suggest, and post back the results, I'm at work right now and will have to wait until I get back home to do it.

I bought the processors from seller only after he confirmed that the processors were NOT ES samples, cpu z recognizes them as a e5-2683 v3, the ES xeons I have seen always show in cpuz as generic.

I will post the results of doing what you suggested, thanks again for the tips, I just hope I can work this out, I really don't want to return it to japan :(

I bought two and one is working flawlessly.

best regards,

M
