Standard EVGA GTX 1060 3GB came overclocked?

I just got my EVGA GTX 1060 3GB (non-overclocked) today and ran some benchmarks, but noticed that it reached 1911MHz core boost clock. I have MSI Afterburner installed but clock speeds are at default +0.

Benchmarks don't reflect that speed from what I can tell from other benchmarks.

yah that's the efficiency of the gpu at work. raising the power limit allows it to use more power but does not mean it has to.

gpu usage does not = gpu speed. can run flat out at lower speed or boost to higher speed and still be tapped out at 100%. nothing to worry about so long as your getting the right performance. i'd be happy my card can run 99% on 89% of the power :)
Not necessarily, the EVGA 1060 3GB is an ITX card, meaning power delivery and overclocking will be less substantial due to the smaller PCB.
If you give it a small conservative overclock, which i'm sure you could, you would definitely see some small increases provided you upped the max voltage target, but I wouldn't be surprised if you didn't hit 2GHz, very demanding for a small card.

boost 3.0 is something folks don't really understand yet. it is basically an automatic overclock built into the card. this is why we have been saying over and over again that those super expensive high end cards are not worth it since they will also boost to these same clocks no matter what the out of the box speeds are.

generally a slight manual oc will bump the boost speeds a little bit but not much more. congrats on saving the cash and not getting an expensive card that will oc to the same speeds as you got for less :)
 


Am I correct in saying that GPU Boost 3.0 takes advantage of additional power targets and voltage present in the system to achieve higher clocks?
In my testing i've found that to be the case, and I believe it could help OP get a much better performing card.

i do believe so. boost will take the cpu to power and thermal limits. so an increase in either will let boost do more.

so far i have not seen anyone test it but it seems logical. i think this is where that little bit of boost comes from when a manual oc is done. since the power limits are usually raised to facilitate the oc. again not seen it tested at stock clocks but it does seem like raising the limits willlet boost do more even if it is left at stock clocks.
 
This card does not allow voltage increasing. But I do have a concern. The power usage doesn't stay anywhere near 100%, and even after increasing the power limit to 116%, it does not reach 100%. GPU usage is at 99%, but power usage stays around 89%. Is this normal?

hi I've been boosting my GTX 1060 3GB with the EVGA Precision OCX. I boost to 2050MHz with mem clock boosted to 4050 and it runs smooth and cool no problem. I'm trying the boost at 2152MHz and mem clock of 4060Mhz and I'll let you know how it run's. I've done temp boost to 2.2ghz but higher than that my system stopped responding. I'm running externally through an eGPU setup via mPCIe slot on my dell Inspiron N7110 intel core i5-2450m.
