I built my PC ~2 months ago and it was fine but lately it takes far to long to post (50+ seconds just to post) and if i try to go in to the BIOS ad see whats going on i can't because the mouse and keyboard do not do anything and i have tried multiple keyboards and mice and nothing
i did not change any settings in the BIOS and have cleared the CMOS and nothing

my motherboard is Asus H81M-R (yes i know it's cheap but i don't need anything fancy)

Solution
Try to get into BIOS with all your HDDs unplugged, if it gets on it immediately it means one of your HDD is having issues getting recognized.

Not it isn't. It can also be done via jumper on the motherboard. Anyways try the option given by RadiKal and let us know how it goes. Good luck.

that might be the problem because im using 2 500GB HDDs (and a 120GB SSD) both of which are not new and one of them is 5 years old but it works still without issue

the drives are (older one) WDC WD5000AAKS-00V1A0 and ST500DM002-1BD142

i'll have a look in to this later because it's 5AM , thank you for the super fast suggestion

ok i did get it to work properly by going in to the BIOS after reseateng the RAM so it would let me do anything and i turned off disk checking and it posten in 5 seconds rather than 50+ so thank you for your help and for being super quick to give suggestions!

Nice to see its getting to BIOS faster, however you should detect which HDD is the culprit since it's most likely to be close to have a failure. Find out which one it is and make a backup of all the important data you have on it, then consider replacing it before the worst happens.

the drive that's doing it is empty anyway, my games haven't gotten to it yet
