Asus ROG Maximus VII Hero- Compatibility with 8TB HDD

I want to raid1: 2 x 8TB drives on my Asus ROG Maximus VII Hero.
Don't want to buy anything yet, until I'm sure it will work.

I've had a good look around and can't find much on this.

I've been told to look at BIOS update history and to see if in says anything about added capability, but also can't find anything there.

The Intel Z97 chipset will do RAID. I suggest installing the OS with SATA in RAID mode with the Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver.

You can then install the IRST software program after you are in Windows. I assume you are not booting from the 8TB hard drives. You can use the IRST software program to create the array.

Does this mean I have to do a fresh install of the OS to my SSD again?

Yes, 8TB drives are compatible using GPT format.
You can reinstall using the IRST driver or make changes in the OS registry.
