I have a new ssd and I can't access it and carbonite doesn't see it. Windows sees it but won't let me access it.

Solution
This sounds unfortunate, @roverit! I'd advise you to check how the SSD appears on another computer as well. You should also download the SSD manufacturer's brand-specific utility to check if you have the latest firmware update for the drive and also try using the feature of writing zeros (a.k.a. full erase) and then attempt to re-initialize the SSD again.

Give it a try and keep us posted.

Welcome to Tom's Hardware, @roverit!

@basroil is right, you should definitely check how and if the SSD appears in Disk Management in Windows and also if it's recognized as a device in Device manager.
If you have partitioned & formatted it already, but you still don't have access to its capacity, you should try taking ownership of the drive in Windows.

I'd also recommend checking the connections to the SSD inside your computer and make sure you have mounted it properly.

Keep us posted.

Hey there again, @roverit!

Have you tried the link with the tutorial I provided in my previous post? Taking ownership of the drive in Windows should help you make the SSD accessible. If not, you should check how it appears on another computer and attempt to take ownership from there as well. If nothing works, I'd even suggest plugging it externally via a SATA-to-USB cable or an enclosure to see how it will get recognized by the system then.

Good luck. Let us know how it goes.

I believe I plugged the drive in and when it was intializing I unplugged it before it had finished. Now it doesn't work and I have Windows 10 pro. How do I fix it.
