Hi, my PC Compaq, which has Windows 8.1, randomly does not start correctly and shows this message after the BIOS has loaded:

First time happened was like 8 months ago, and last time it happened was like 1 month ago. It happens randomly, as I said, and the PC works flawlessly, without a single problem.

What can it be?

Solution
0x0000005C is some sort of HAL (Hardware Abstraction Layer ) issue.

Given the duration between the errors, it's likely a minor issue, but clearly increasing in speed.

As soon as you can boot into the OS, I would backup your data. The most likely culprit would be a failing HardDrive - an easy fix, but a nightmare if you don't backup your data.

Once you've backed up, run a health check on your HDD (which you can download from the manufacturer's site - be it SeaGate, WD etc).

Post the results.
