8pin doesnt fully click into gtx 970

Hi, I recently bought a MSI GTX 970 gaming 4G OC. The 6pin goes in just fine but the 8pin doesnt go in fully. I have already played with the card for a month and didnt run into any issues. However i still have this problem on my mind. I had a 7970 before this gpu and the 8 pin got in just fine. Im thinking about using the single 6pin to 8 pin adaptor that came with gpu. Would that provide enough power ?

I have a 6+2 pin on my psu. I see that on the side of the connector is some thin plastic strip (dunno how to call it in english) that blocks the connector to go fully in.

While this can work for some units, it wont work for all. EVGA units have a tab on the 6pin portion that holds the two pin under it, so you cant insert the 2 pin after.
