I have a MSI 970A-G46 Motherboard. Trying to upgrade my cpu. Running in it now is a AMD Sempron 145 Sargas Single-Core 2.8 GHz Socket AM3 45W SDX145HBK 13GM Cpu.
I have tried two different ones to no avail. They are AMD Athlon II X2 250 3 GHz Dual-Core Processor ADX250OCK23GQ and AMD-Athlon-II-X-3-435-Triple-Core-2.9GHz-AM3-Processor-ADX435WFK32GI.
All are listed at their cpu support list site (http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/mb-MSI/970A-G46.html). My question is when I install either of the multiple core ones I get
no video. Everything else works, all the cpu lights lite up, all fans are spinning, video card fan is spinning, no beep codes. I have tried everything from reseating everything
to different ram in different slots, and 1 stick and 2 sticks. Different video, including pci and pci-e.Even changing power supplies, one 300w the other 750w.I do have the latest bios. The thing is, without changing anything at all, except the cpu back to the 145 Sempron, it boots up and runs fine. Also both cpus work fine in another board I have.
It is an Asus M4A8TD-USB3 Motherboard. They both work fine in it. Anyone with any ideas would be appreciated.

When changing CPU, clear CMOS when installing different CPU. Matched pairs of memory recommended.

Sempron 145 SDX145HBK13GM uses C3 revision of the core, which now supports two DDR3-1333 modules per memory channel.

AMD Athlon II X2 250 - ADX250OCK23GQ is the older C2 revision and supports two DDR3-1066 memory per memory channel.

AMD Athlon II X3 435 uses DDR3-1333 memory.

So what mobo has the latest BIOS? The MSI or the ASUS??

If those CPU's work on the ASUS then the BIOS on it supports them.

If they dont work on the MSI, it cant have the right BIOS on it to support them

Even tho it says the MSI mobo supports them the BIOS thats on the mobo now has to support them first

Thank you for your reply. I am not sure what you mean. If the 145 (the one that works) uses DDR3-133. Then why does the 435 not work if it uses DDR3-133 also. I am no expert on memory but it seems to me it should. The 250 should also work then with the memory I have also. It is DDR3-1066.I have tried with these two types of memory.Always in pairs.
Ripjaws DDR3 1600 PC-3 12800 F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL.
Samsung D/351264 1066mb DDR3 1066mhz/PC 8500 4gb.
Also I have reset CMOS.
