Hey guys, bought this alienware steam machine, installed windows on it, and it was running great with the stock single 4gb stick of RAM. I decided I wanted to max it out so pulled the original stick and replaced it with 2x 8gb sticks of PNY RAM. Same type and speed PC3-12800 DDR3 1600mhz.

Here are screenshots of my benchmarks, but needless to say the computer runs super slow now. I play rocket league a lot and it is constantly hanging and lagging and experience extreme slow downs after i put this RAM in.

UPDATE:

I tested each stick of RAM individually, looks like one is a little faster than the other but are both sticks faulty? Seems unlikely... wonder if theres a BIOS setting i need to fiddle with? I dont know....

This can be grounds for you to RMA the ram kit provided you can't get into BIOS and inspect if they are running at the same frequency and latency as each other. You will need to manually input the numbers. Is it possible to pass on your PNY ram kit's SKU number or link? It also looks like you're on a copy of Windows 10. One issue with that OS is that some users have had to resort to reinstalling the OS in order for things to seem normal.

the last thing you can do is with both rams installed run memtest86 for at least 10 passes to verify if the rams or the ram slots are faulty.

Speaking of which, what is the Alienware Steam machine you speak of? Is it the Alpha or Alpha R2?
