So I am installing ram into my Inspiron 5000-PPM

It came with 64mbs originally, I found a old laptop with 2x128mb sticks. I stuck them in and the laptop recognizes them fine and Posts except for the OS.

Windows XP only boots up if I have one 128mb stick in the second slot, if I include both sticks I get different errors like "couldn't find NTFS.sys, please insert disk" but if I take the ram out those errors vanish

I know the first slot isn't bad because originally it had 64mbs in that slot and it worked fine.

I tried 128mb/64mb , no luck. I tried SLOT2/128mb , nothing.

if i put 64mbs in slot 1, itll boot fine.

Could the CMOS need to be reset or something? I can't quite figure this out.

I don't think the sticks are bad, since it works in the other slot. These sticks also work in a ThinkPad T22.

Thanks
