Last year I built my own PC with a g3258 and am now looking to upgrade it to an i5 ( haven't decided which one yet). I assume you don't just take the old processor out and put on the new one so I was wandering what should I know before upgrading. Will I need new software ?
Thanks

Just take the old one out and put the new one in. It may be necessary to reset your BIOS, but probably not. If Windows only sees 2 cores after installing the i5, uninstall your CPU from device manager and reboot, and it should work correctly.
