I have a

intel core i7-4790k CPI 4GHZ

not doing anything my temps are 55-75

playing games like battlefield i get about 75-90c
what do i do i have a stock cooler and my thermal paste is fine what do i do please help asap

Solution
70-85c is not concerning, and is actually fairly good for the stock cooler. Your CPU does not throttle until 100c. Leave it alone, it's fine.

Coincidentally, I've been having the same problem recently with my i7 CPU and getting exactly the same sort of temperatures. Mine seems to have coincided with the Windows 10 Anniversary update. Are you on Windows 10? Has this only started happening recently?

Sorry I'm not actually providing a solution but, as I say, I have the same problem and thought we could maybe narrow it down to that update messing with the chipset drivers or something...

Cheers

It won't kill the CPU, no, but, in my case anyway, it was 50-60 max until the last week or so so something's happened along the way and I'd like to find out what, just out of curiosity... :)

Mine has a huge Cooler Master after-market CPU cooler on it and is still running 70-80 even when completely idle... :/

I just worry that if something's making my CPU run far hotter than before then what else may be going on?

Looking at the front page of this section of the forum, it seems many people are having exactly the same problem recently so maybe it is to do with the Windows 10 Anniversary Update....
