Asus Maximus viii Hero (BIOS Verison 1701)
Intel i7-6700k
Cooler Master 212 evo
Nzxt 440 Case

Just build my new rig a few days ago, and downloaded hwmonitor to check my CPU temps to ensure everything looked good. I noticed under moderate load (30%) playing games, and few applications, the CPU max temps could jump up to high 60, even 70/71. Running 3D Mark at full load I maxxed out at 77c. I did some research online and found it could be a voltage issues so I made the following changes.

CPU Core/Cache Voltage (Auto) --- > Manual mode
- CPU Core Voltage Override (Auto) ----> 1.260

With these changes in place :
I reran 3dmark and the CPU max temp was much lower at 63c.
I also noticed during gaming, the max temp would stay around 53c
I am currently idling around 29c.

I don't care to overclock and happy with my performance. My question is : Where these the correct changes to make ? Are these changes safe ? Should I change anything else ? Should I change it back to auto ?

So you undervolted a stock 6700K? Ordinarily, I would say that you didn't have to bother, but it seems like the 6700K is a CPU that pulls a lot more voltage at stock than it needs to. Just be sure to test it thoroughly, because undervolting affects stability exactly the same way that overclocking does. As long as it's stable, no harm, no foul. Nice temps :)
