Building a PC - Should I get an SSD and CPU Cooler?

Hi guys,

I'm building a new gaming PC (mainly want to play Overwatch), and have a couple of questions.

A. Build: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/kylecb/saved/#view=m66nTW

B. Questions:

1. Will an SSD make a big difference in terms of performance? I.e. in your opinion is it worth the extra money?

2. Also, should I get a CPU cooler for the i5-6500? Seems to be a good one for about $35, so if it will help the computer last longer and run smoother then I don't mind spending that bit more money.

Thanks!

P.S. Thanks to Mike3k24 for already answering a ton of my questions!

Yes it is recommended to fit in some newer parts. Your hard drive likely has 5400rpm. And PSU is crucial to your PC. And if you'd like a cooler (which is t really necessary for your build) than the cooler master one is a good one. I'd even recommend the cooler master 212 evo. It's a great a great cooler at a good price. It will make your CPU run cooler but you won't really have to worry about your CPU getting hot because you won't be overclocking. Still a good option maybe if you plan on overclocking in the future.

1. I don't plan on overclocking. So it's not worth the extra $50ish for the better CPU?
2. Right now I mainly want to play Overwatch. Obviously it would be great if I could play other new games that come out over the next couple of years too, but I don't know how realistic that is on a budget.

Thanks for the input! Much appreciated.

It looks like the 3 better GPUs you mentioned (480, 970 and 1060) are all similar price range... do you recommend one of them over the others?

Thanks for the help guys!

There are like 30 GPUs on pcpartpicker that use GeForce GTX 1060 chipset... they seem to range in price by like $70 - is there one that's better than the others, or how does it work? Same for the other ones (ex. Radeon RX 480).

Thanks again for all the help Mike!

For sure, planning to - just making sure I have it all figured out lol.

I just thought it through, and I think I'm gonna bite the bullet and get a new PSU and hard drive as well, because I don't really have a lot of faith in those 8 year old ones.

Final question: I'm thinking I may as well get a CPU cooler - there's a highly rated Cooler Master one for $34...I'm assuming it will make the CPU last longer and run smoother? Opinions?

Awesome, thanks man. I guess I will pass on the CPU cooler for now, I can always get one later on if needed.

I appreciate your help so much... it's so overwhelming trying to navigate through all the details of building a computer.
