Hello,

I recently have had some trouble with my external 2TB Passport Ultra. The driver worked fine, however I had some issues with it, not being able to open on my computer. Whenever I plug it in to my laptops USB it allows me to unlock the drive but then says it is unreadable. It comes up as a untitled drive in the disk utility, but it will not allow me to reformat the drive. Prior to this incident it would come up, and allow me access to the drive, but would not allow me to view or write files onto it. I followed information in an earlier thread and attempted to update the driver. The problem with it becoming unrecognizable happened after this. It also does not work with any other cords, or computer, it has the same issues. Please help, I need to transfer information to the drive as soon as possible.

Thanks,

Justin

Welcome to the TH Community, @Justin!

I'm sorry to hear about your issues with the WD My Passport external HDD. :( I'd advise you to go to Disk Utility on your MacBook Pro and test the drive for defects from there. Are you using the WD My Passport on Mac computers only or do you have it formatted for both Windows OS and Mac OS?
You can also post some screenshots from Disk Utility to see how exactly the external drive appears.

Hope this works. Keep me posted.
