Hello everyone,I just made my first build but there where a few problems on the way.
i had a hard time installing my evo 212(even though many say its really easy) and i took off the cooler.i applied some more thermal paste(really really small portion, not even the size of rice) and i was really afraid to run it.
what should i do?

Solution
yes, you should always clean off all of the old paste.
if it was still fresh, never burned on from normal use, then it's not as big of a deal. just clean any off from the edges and any that may have spread off of the face of the CPU. too much can also be a bad thing.
i would recommend totally cleaning it and reapplying the recommended amount correctly, just to be sure.
the best thing i've found to use is medicinal or baby wipes. but cottonballs with a dab of isopropyl alcohol work well too.
were you totally out of thermal paste and are now afraid you may not have applied enough?
as long as you have the recommended amount, or close to it, you are fine. if it is significantly less than a grain a rice, you may want to wait til you reapply more.

how much do you think it was; 1/2 of a grain of white rice, 1/4 of a grain, less?

first of all thank you for your quick answer.
well basically before installing the cooler for the first time i applied a normal portion, which was about pea sized.
after taking my cooler off i was scared that my cpu would be harmed and i put a really really small portion and reinstalled my cooler.
no i was not out of thermal paste.im not afraid that i applied a small portion i am more scared that the first paste should have been cleaned.
