I recently built a new computer. It is my first pc build ever and seemed to be going great. My new gtx 1080 I was finally able to get my hands on showed up on Sunday and installation was smooth. My ssd wasn't gonna arrive for almost a week and I got impatient. I decided to take my old hard drive from my old gaming pc and just install it in my new computer. Everything seemed fine for about two days when I started to get random freezes. It didn't matter what I was doing it would freeze anywhere from right at boot to an hour after boot.

What I've tried:
Updating all drivers
Windows 10 Refresh
sfc /scannow
Safe Boot
Resetting Bios settings
A couple other things I can't think of off the top of my head.

Specs:
Amd Fx-9590 at 4.7ghz
Corsair H115i 280mm AIO cpu cooler
Asus Crosshair v formula-z
Corsair Dominator Platinums 4x4gb kit at 2400mhz cas11
Nvidia Geforce GTX 1080 ASUS Strix version
Corsair RMx 850w 80+ Gold PSU
1tb WD Black

Extra info:
While in Safe boot without networking the computer ran for over 6 hours without freezing once. This lead me to the conclusion that there was a problem with software so I "refreshed" the computer which removed all programs and files and reinstalled windows. Everything seemed to be going fine and It didn't freeze for about 2 hours so I started reinstalling my basic programs and Arma 3 just to test. Within 10 minutes of playing Arma 3 the computer froze. After a hard restart I didn't even make it back in to the game before it froze.

Any help would be wonderful! Thank you in advance for the help.

Never a good idea to use an OS from another system xAntwan.
Wait till your SSD arrives and do a clean OS install.
You may also have some instability issues with your FX-9590.
It would be a good idea to clear your CMOS, install the new OS then tune for performance.
You should be able to OC to 5.0-5.2GHz with your cooling system.

Thank you for the quick response. I didn't know that switching the hard drive with the os on it wasn't a good idea until already in the computer and having troubles. My new SSD should be here either today or tomorrow so Ill clean install windows on that and hopefully solve my problems. If not it is on to hardware checking. I will post an update on my progress this afternoon hopefully if the SSD shows up on time.

Update: The SSD arrived. While hooking it up I went through and double check all of the connections. Everything seems to be plugged in correctly and tightly. Windows clean install was completely trouble free. After about 15 minutes of the computer booting up after the install I got my first freeze. I am now moving on to component checking starting with the ram. If anyone has any suggestions feel free to throw them out there!

I have been reading about the freezes and a lot of people on the anniversary update seem to be having the same issue? Should I wait it out and see if Microsoft comes out with a fix or is there a way for me to downgrade to the previous version even on a clean install? And I will give the notifications a try!

It's downloading the updates right now. If this was the fix Ill be super happy but super upset with myself for not figuring it out. It kept saying no updates available but as soon as I hit check updates they popped up.

Got everything up to date thought it was all good. Had a good run of about 3 hours after the install with no interruptions or freezes. Played Bf4 for pretty much the whole time. Got off to go shower and came back to it frozen again. :/ Maybe it was just a kink or something. Will wait to see if it happens again.
