hey guys i have a question that i never found an answer for
so my brother has an i5-4440 base clock is 3.1 turbo clock is 3.3
his motherboard is h97 pro gamer .. so somehow his clock speed is always locked at 3.3 ghz i asked him how ? he didn't know he just said i didn't do anything its just like this
so my question is how can i get my i5-4460 base clock 3.2 boost 3.4
to be locked at 3.4 like his cpu ? my motherboard is ga-h81-s2h
and btw i did cinebench benchmarks his score was 505 and mine was 490 ... i mean if i can get these 200mhz i can get atleast 520 cinebench score i would love to be able to that ...help ?

Are you sure his machine is actually locked? Turbo Boost tries to run at max speed as long as it's not overheating and the system isn't idle. It also boosts to a different speed depending on how many cores are active. For example, the 4440 is a 3300/3300/3200/3100, meaning if 1 core is boosted it can go to 3300, same for 2 cores, 3 cores can only boost to 3200, and if all 4 cores are active it stays at 3100. The 4460 is 3400/3400/3300/3200. If your processor isn't boosting at all, check the BIOS to make sure it's enabled.

he just got i7-4790 and his clock is locked at 4ghz but 4ghz is the turbo speed , how ?? i tried same cpu but i only get the base clock 3.6
and i see some spikes to 4ghz only when multitasking but he gets 4ghz/turbo even when benchmarking , i don't get it does he have glitch ? or h97 is not same as h81 ?

Check his Power settings in Windows. In particular, look for Processor Power Management, and his minimum and maximum processor state. Then check against your settings.

But honestly, while I'm not really sure what's going on with his rig, there does seem to be something up with yours. Have you checked temps to see if it's throttling? That could mean higher ambient temperatures, or a better/worse cooling solution, or a dusty case restricting airflow etc.

we both have it at 100% min and max cpu state and my temps running prime 95 max is 74 and on his pc because the voltage is on auto temps reach 85 sometimes and throttling does not start until 92 i think

well, anyways i found a solution in h81 mobos turbo boost works randomly only when the pc is in real need for the boost
but in h97 mobos you can use the turbo boost to gain more performance for any app you want anytime you want
... thanks btw :)
