Hi,

Although I thought there would be an obvious answer to this question, I have been reading conflicting information on whether I could get 150mbps wifi from a router with 10/100 ethernet ports.
So I have a 150mbps down and 15mbps up internet connection, and so I was wondering if a good router that I could get really cheap would be able to transmit my connection at its maximum potential, even though it has 10/100 ports?
This router would be an access point/slave.

Thanks

The biggest issue is the 150m number you see on wireless is very close to a lie. They do stuff like add the transmit rate and receive rates together partially because it is half duplex. This would be like calling a 1g ethernet port 2000mbit....except ethernet does run that fast.

The 100m port on a wireless router they claim is 150m is almost a admission they are being deceptive. Most routers that only have 150m wireless will only run about 30-40m. Even using the 450 number on the 2.4g band most are still under 100m. The 802.11ac ones you see with the giant number larger than 1g also get nowhere close. Most run about 350m on average.
