Samsung 850 evo ssd booting problems

Hey guys. I seem to have a problem with my Samsung 850 evo 250gb ssd. It ran perfectly fine on my z97x-gaming 5 mother board but I recently got another 500gb Samsung 850 evo ssd. So I thought just plugging the new ssd in for some extra storage would be an easy thing. It seemed to screw up my booting process. I plugged them both into the mother board but when I boot it keeps coming up with a screen that says you have to choose your booting device. So I go into my bios and set up the boot order to boot from my original 250gb but it won't boot. I have tried almost everything that comes to mind even unplugging the new ssd that I just got. I even had a buddy hard swap it for me and it didnt boot on his computer either. He said all the files are still on it though. Please help me!

Wow that is rough man sorry.

Yeah, data migrate everything over. That's puzzling though as if the default values didn't allow it to boot.

Ask your friends if he knows how to repair a master boot record or repair a hard-disk in general. It's possible the drive needs to be repaired.

This is a tough one.

If the drive was formatted in ACHI "IDE" mode then this must be set in this BIOS for it to load. If it was formatted in "Sata" mode then the same thing, the BIOS needs to be this way for it to boot.

Find this setting in your BIOS and change it back and forth. The drive should boot.

That didn't seem to work. I went into my sata configuration in my bois and changed it back and forth from achi to ide and still having the same problem. Any other suggestions

Damn that sucks.

Why don't we try resetting the CMOS (BIOS) to stock settings in hopes that is sets some values back to defaults? I think that's a good option at this point.

If you're interested let me know and I'll give you the procedure.

Those damn I.T guys man...(what I do for a living lol)

Alright. Follow every step. Do not skip anything. Gigabyte uses a dual BIOS so this has to be done correctly to reset both.

-Remove all cables that carry current from the P.C (power, monitor, LAN)
-Press power button to discharge capacitors
-Remove motherboard battery
-Locate CMOS jumper (Two pins protruding vertically from motherboard) it is located in the south-east corner of the motherboard
-Short the two pins with a metal object of your choice (Screw driver, keys, you get it). Do this for 5 seconds.
-Put in motherboard battery. Put in cables.
-Pray that the settings reverted to default allow the boot to drive

Nuuuuuu! It didn't work :(. It definitely rest the defaults for the bios but the drive still won't boot :(. I guess I'll just have to have my buddy take everything off of the drive and I'll have to put it on the new drive. Why does this easy thing have to be so hard. :(. Anyway thanks for all of the help I really appreciate it.
