Hey,
I have started to OC my FX yesterday. I didn't quite get to my goal yesterday though. I want the processor to run around 4,2ghz. I think that is possible with my specs?

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P
Cooler: Thermalright Macho Direct
PSU: 650 Watt XFX TS

I have read the AMD overclocking guide referred on this forums many times but i just want to be sure about my actions. I got a little bit greedy when i started. After i had set the recommended settings on my mobo i went straight to cpu ratio and upped it so my frequency got to 4ghz. I save and exit but i got into somekind of bootloop. After a while i manage to get as far as mobo screen and smashed DEL and i got to the settings page again. I tone it down to 3,8ghz but after a while of prime i got BSOD. I tone it down to 3,6ghz and i finally ran prime for maybe 20min. I did this all on stock voltages.

Should i raise my cpu core voltage now along with cpu ratio and see where it gets me?
Thanks for the help!

The 8320E can take just as much voltage as other Vishera core CPUs. As long as your motherboard, power supply, and cooling are able, you could go much higher. Since you're very close to AMD's spec of 62C, cooling is the weakest link at this point. That's not to say your motherboard would be happy to run the chip at 4.8GHz and 1.5V with better cooling - it probably wouldn't be - but you could probably get higher 4.0 since your voltage is still pretty low.
Overclocking an "E" processor kinda defeats it's purpose. E signifies lower power consumption and OCing it will bring that to non-E specs.
If you are dead set to OC it, you'll have to increase voltage for stability. There's no way around it.
Power saving and turbo modes off and everything in the BIOS on manual because they interfere with OC.

I am aware that its low power model. I bought it just because it was 30€ cheaper in my country.

Okay i will try with the volts.
Also, how do i know if one of my cores fail during prime test? Does prime95 tell me about it?

Yes, prime95 will show you that. You may also want to USE AMD Overdrive program for testing and overseeing temps and other parameters, it's more accurate with AMD systems. There's logging option so you can see what was happening during work or testing.

Okay, i got it to run at 4ghz with 1,2500V but it seems that i cant get it higher tho :( .
I went for 4,1ghz with the same voltages and got BSOD. Then i raised the volts by 3 points (=1,2800 about). Again BSOD. I didn't want to raise the volts more cuz i already got like 58celsius on my socket and core during prime small FFT's. Does that mean that 4ghz is about the max for me?

Are my temperatures unusually high for my volts(1,25) and almost 60celsius?
Is there any way i can keep the temps lower? maybe do something to my fan speeds?
