I recently bought an intel 6700k processor. Nothing is over clocked yet. I'm using stock intel cooler (from a non-k model).

Under Idle conditions, the temp is around 30-32 C.
When under 20% load, the temp is around 50-55C and go as high as 60C under 40-50% load.
I ran Intel processor diagnostic tool. During the 4 min test, the temp went as high as 81C. The ambient here is quite high too - around 30C. Is the processor really fine (though it passed the intel processor diagnostic test)?

replace it with an aftermarket cooler, temperatures will drop.
I'm using an i7 in a silenced case, a hot apartment and a Scythe Mugen 4, my CPU barely reaches 45°C at 50% load.
a good aftermarket cooler changes temperature (and sound) drastically

Which one are you using?

using a Scythe Mugen 4 as I got it for a good price (unfortunately it blocks 1 RAM slot currently)
if you OC it, a 35$+ cooler is recommended, if you don't a cheaper cooler could do fine as well.

of course the stock cooler will do fine as well.
I just feel it's unlogical to buy one of the best CPUs on the market, probably a good board and a top end GPU as well and then go with the cheapest 3$ stock cooler there is on the market.

If you want to get a cooler, get one that will allow you to overclock at some point. The best bang for buck these days is the Cryorig H7

I have two options:
A. I buy a cooler now. But, Ill be buying one around $25 (like cooler master 212 EVO).
B. I wait a year or so and I buy a decent one.

What should I do?
