Is my SSD choking up? Could it be the cause of CS:GO problem?

Hey there!
I have been having some pretty big issues with CSGO lately (game freezes)
see video to understand what I am talking about:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sctMu3JyHo4

After trying re-installing basically everything I thought, "maybe my SSD is choking" or something. So I ran a test. "AS SSD Benchmark". 10GB run and immediately I saw that over time the SSD got slower and slower. It started at 450 write and ended at 185. Read was just fine and ended at 501.
Obviously my main problem is CS:GO, so if anyone knows how to fix that, great! Otherwise my question is, is this normal?

Specs:
GTX 970 (normal heat)
i5 4690k (stock, watercooled)
Windows 10 (not anniversary)
SSD #1 for OS (79% filled)
SSD #2 for CS:GO and other "priority" software (60% filled)
HDD #1 for misc.
MSI Z97 G45 mobo
That's all I can think of that might be of importance.
I should add, it is only CS:GO that behaves this way. Playing bioshock infinite for example never freezes.

Thanks in advance!

I think it is unlikely to be the SSD. There shouldn't be much disk activity mid game, after the level has loaded.

What is your internet connection like, or is this local LAN? If you are using wireless, can you try ethernet.

Hey there, felixeng.

Have you tried installing CS: GO on your OS SSD to see if the same issue reoccurs? It could be a server or network connection issue as well. Basically you should backup your important data, just to be on the safe side and after that download an SSD diagnostic tool and test it, to see if any errors pop-up.
You could also try the SSD with a different SATA port and cables, to see if the problem still persists. Try a different game as well, perhaps a local one where you don't need internet connection, to see what happens.
Update your GPU driver or roll back a version and try again.

Hope that helps. Please let me know how everything goes.

Internet connection is 100/100 on fiber, using ethernet. According to net graph in csgo (shows all the values for your connection) there is no loss/ high ping, etc.

As I mentioned in my original post, only CS:GO does this. Bioshock Infinite (singeplayer game) plays just fine, though it is not installed on any SSD, but my HDD. I will try to do as you said and install on the SSD with my OS on, though that one will be close to it's max if I install CS on it.

I ran a diagnostic tool that I found through these forums, here's what it gave me: https://gyazo.com/47fd47532f233eb0ef06dbcb7e388acc

Looks like jibberish to me, but maybe you can make something out of it?
Software was SSD Life, not sure if it's good or not but it said everything was good.

EDIT: Just re-installed on my second SSD. It did nothing.

I have. Multiple times. A few times just to re-install on SSD#1 afterwards, and now once to install on SSD#2 to test if there's anything wrong with SSD#1.

By saying "EDIT: Just re-installed on my second SSD. It did nothing." you mean that nothing has changed or that you didn't experience any problems?

The SSD SMART results look OK. If this is happening only with the CS: GO then perhaps you could try different GPU drivers, to see if anything changes. You could go with an older version or a newer one, just to test what happens. You could also play around a bit with the video options of the game itself. I know your GPU is more than capable of running it, but sometimes driver compatibility issues have nothing to do with how old a game is an how powerful the GPU is.

By "It did nothing" I mean that it had no effect. The issue remains. I had quite old drivers previously and just now (before writing the original post) updated them, that "did nothing" aswell.

I am not sure what I can fiddle with when it comes to ingame settings. The only thing I could do is crank them up, which would mean a heavier strain on my GPU? Does that seem like a good idea?

I really appreciate you trying to help me and your trusty WD Blue has always been the go-to HDD for me! :)

Yes. Also re-installed OS, Network drivers, GPU drivers (used old ones now have new ones).

Is there anything else I can update when it comes to network? My MOBO came with "Killer ethernet" and I just downloaded their latest version, so anything except that. Maybe something that is built into windows?

Have not tried that yet. Will try and install on the HDD tomorrow if I have time to do it. I'll get back to you with results asap.

Looks like you've done your fair share of troubleshooting... you've even done most CS: GO players' fair share of troubleshooting, for which I applaud you. It must be really frustrating that nothing comes up. And everything seems to be fine. I assume you're playing it via Steam. Have you checked the community there for someone having similar issues. Usually (at least in my experience) whenever there's a common issue with a game, it has been reported and someone has found the solution or at least the culprit.

And thanks for the good words mate!

Tried it. Didn't work. It's not that the game is crashing (like this guy's game) it only freezes, like in the video of the main post.

I sent a support ticket to Steam, that's the final resort. If they can't help me, which I doubt since their support is known to be utter dog shit, I guess I'll just have to live with it...
