I have just had build completed using this motherboard and i7 6700k . I purchased two m.2 cards. One is an Intel 540s series 1.0TB installed in the motherboard m.2 slot as my boot drive. It works fantastic! (windows 10 pro) I also purchase a Sandisk x400 1.0TB m.2. I thought I could use the Hyper mini card to use this m.2 for storage, but, I am unable to use both my m.2 cards at the same time. Is this not possible? I have an EVGA 1070 FTW in the first pcie slot. Any help would be appreciated.

Solution
According to the manual

The PCIe x16_3 slot shares bandwidth with SATA6G_56. The PCIe x16_3 is default set at x2 mode.

And

2 x SATA 6Gb/s ports (beige)
*
Supports PCIE RAID configurations via onboard M.2 and PCIEX16_3 slot storage.
**
The M.2 socket shares SATA ports with SATA Express_1 ports. Adjust BIOS settings to use an M.2 SATA device.
***
These functions will work depending on the CPU installed.
****
These SATA ports are for data hard drivers only. ATAPI devices are not supported.

Update the BIOS if it's not updated

Thanks, but that did not solve the issue. It may be a problem with the type of interface the m.2 (both the intel and the sandisk) has. I see that they are both sata iii. The onboard slot works because the interface can be designated in the uefi. I don't think the m.2 interface type is an option using the hyper mini card in a pcie slot. I believe that may be my problem. Any thoughts?

Hi, I hope I can reserect this page.

I to am looking to instal an M.2, a Samsung 960 Evo 500GB. My problem is, where can I find the manual refered to in the answer above? My copy that came with the board, and the online one, give very little info on M.2, as the orginator of this thread found.

Silly I know but I don't want to read my copy for the 5th time :)
