Question on SLIing different manufacturer 1080s.

Basically because of the powers that be I ended up with an:

EVGA ACX FTW 1080 which is 1721 core/1860 boost

as well as a

Zotac AMP Edition 1080 1.68 core/1822 boost

Anyways, this will be the first time I am running 2 different manufacturer cards. My understanding is that the 2 cards will run at the zotac speed by default because it's slower correct? Well, that being said, is it reasonable to OC the cards to just be the EVGA default clock speeds? So basically only overclocking the Zotac card to match what EVGA's default stats were. I am not a big OC person but I figure I'd rather not lose the performance if possible. Is it even possible to do that in EVGA precision (I don't physically have the zotac card yet, coming next week)?

You can overclock a single card to match the advertised boost clock easily and I would think even hitting the real world boost clock of the FTW out of the box shouldn't be impossible. The pascal cards have much less overclocking room and the overclocking potential really seems to be more dependent on the silicon lottery than which version of the card you buy. Average overclocks seem to hit 2050 and if you are really lucky you can hit 2100ish.

Thanks. I am only interested in making them even at the moment. I also read that recently they changed SLI configuration so the clocks can run differently. How is that even possible wouldn't it cause performance problems?
