Internet working when connected through router but not when connected directly to the outlet in the wall.

Hey,
I've had a problem with my internet for a while now and just can't figure out what's wrong. It all started after moving back into my apartment after being away for a couple of months. During my time away the building got a new ISP, I installed windows 10 on my computer and I upgraded my ram from 8gb to 16gb. Those are the changes I can think of that could possibly have something to do with my problem.

So what happened was that my internet started dropping occasionally 1-2 times a day for about 10-30 seconds then getting back online. This is not really a big deal but still annoying. I figured this had to do with my router since the ISP said they couldn't see anything wrong from their part, and it affects all my units connected to the router, both wired and wireless.

This is where it gets interesting. I unplugged my router and connected my computer directly to the wall and the internet started acting really wierd. It's quite hard to pinpoint exactly what's happening but it feels like the more I "push" it the more unstable it becomes. Surfing the web seems pretty fine but when I start connected to game servers such as discord, overwatch etc, it drops more and more frequently. From discord I get the "no route" message which means:

"The No Route message will appear when Discord cannot make a connection to connect you to voice. This is often the cause of being behind something like a VPN or network security that prohibits the connection of Discord. You'll need to check with your network administrator or settings to allow for the connection to be made. We only support VPN that has UDP since we do not have a TCP fallback."

This problem seems to be computer specific since my laptop runs without any problems when connected directly to the wall outlet. If I reconnect the computer to the router everything works fine except the occasionally daily drops.

What I've tried:
Disabling firewalls and anti virus.
Change ethernet cables
Reinstalling network drivers
Using another network card
I've tried loads of commands in the command prompt from different forums.

Hopefully geting a new router would solve the problem but I'm still really buged about the fact that plugging the computer directly into the wall causes this behavior.

Any help or suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks
Emil

Solution
Most likely the ISP doesn't support certain packet sizes or has really shitty packet shaping. Try asking for specifications, maybe they are hiding something that is causing issues
