So I have a gtx 1070 and an i5 4590 and it bottlenecks to 1070 HARD! Very low gpu usage and very high cpu usage. So, I was wondering what would be the best cpu to go within terms of no bottlenecking and still good performance. I'm playing on a 1080p 144hz monitor. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated!

My friend have same problem but he have i5 4570. In games like GTA v, BF4, Crysis 3, last Batman game etc. If you dont want to spend to much you can get used 4770k or 4790k or if you have bigger budget you can go Z170 route with 6700k and Z170 mobo and DDR4 RAM.

I was thinking about a 4790k because it would already fit my socket but i would really like a 6700k but if i do that i would need to get this mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128873 would that work?

gpu: gtx 1070
cpu: i5 4590
ram: 8gb ddr3 1600
psu: cx 750w
mobo: GIGABYTE GA-B85M-DS3H-A

Well best you can get is 4790k. You cant OC it on that motherboard but you will get Turbo boost to 4.4 GHZ. Going with i7 6700k you will need to buy new mobo and ram and new windows. Looking performance wise i7 6700k is not worth spending all that extra.

So i just want to make sure that the i7 4790k won't bottleneck the 1070, like my i5 4590?

I cant say you 100% sure that it wont cuz sometimes when game is badly coded no matter what you have it will run bad.But you should see improvement in all your games and you will get rid off bottleneck or it will be really small that you even wont notice. For sure i can say that under heavy CPU loads even in games i7 delivers better performance than i5.
