I've been doing some shopping for a CPU and right now im aiming to get a FX 8350. Though my biggest question is can i upgrade from my FX 4300 to an FX 8350?

I had someone tell me that if my motherboard can fit the FX 4300, it should be able to fit an FX 8350.

But i'm asking just to be sure.

P.S Here is my motherboard;

AMD 760G+SB710 Chipset
AM3+ Proccessor Socket

Solution
Depends on whether your specific motherboard supports 125w CPUs. Most 760G chipset boards don't. You didn't list your motherboard.

For an 8350 will want a better mobo, some can 'run' an 8350, but don't exxpect a lot. And if thinking going for new CPU and new mobo - either wait for Zen or simply go intel - everything AMD has out now is dated and not really worth investing in

The motherboard can only support up to a 95 watt so the max you could take is a 8320 I think, the board does not have the right power phase protections for the 8350 which is 125 watt+ but would probably damage other components. Besides the 8350 is not listed on the CPU support list for that motherboard.

So if i can't get a 125W CPU, could i upgrade to an FX-8300 with my motherboard?
