Hello, I completed a build about a year ago and received great help from everyone on the site. I am now looking to upgrade my graphics card. Currently running 750ti, i5 4690k, msi X97 pc mate LGA1150 motherboard, and EVGA superNove Nex 650W 80+ gold power supply. My question is should I go with the popular well rated gtx 980ti or the 1070 which I might be able to purchase cheaper or around the same price as a 980ti, would like to spend no more than $450, any input is greatly appreciated, thanks.

Solution
Get the 1070, it offers better DX12 support, pascal technologies, better performance out of the box and lower power consumption, making it the most futureproof option out of the two.
A 980ti only supports DX12.1, which is a very basic level of DX12 support, and it does not perform very well under DX12 load.
