Hi Guys,

First post here!:)

I just bought a new samsung 850 evo ssd (500gb).

I cloned my hdd to the ssd with windows and then formatted the hdd.

However checking disk management, somehow the SSD got partitioned into three parts (as it should) but with much larger volumes.

System Reserved: 144,15 gb
C: 177,14 gb
Recovery partititon: 144,47 gb

I have no idea why it happened this way, but I tried reset PC option but did not work.

I have the ability to shrink the System Reserved (not sure if it would work), but recovery partition has no option.

Any fixes here?

There is not a single file on the PC, so formatting is not a problem.

Thanks

Hey there, @dgknozden!

Since you don't have any important data stored on your PC just yet, I'd definitely recommend repeating the clean install of Windows.
I suspect that you had both the SSD and the HDD connected to the motherboard's SATA ports when you were trying to install the OS onto the SSD. Is that so? It appears to me that you might have encountered an OS confusion.
In order to avoid it with the fresh install now, you should unplug the secondary HDD from the SATA port on the mobo until the installation has been completed. Afterwards, boot into Windows from the SSD properly, plug back the HDD and go to Disk Management again. Make sure you re-format the HDD (until all the space becomes unallocated and then create a...

Afterwards, boot into Windows from the SSD properly, plug back the HDD and go to Disk Management again. Make sure you re-format the HDD (until all the space becomes unallocated and then create a new simple volume).

Here's a tutorial about Windows Install & Optimization for SSDs & HDDs. It's super detailed, so it will give you the step-by-step instructions to properly configure your storage.

Hope it helps. Let me know if you have more questions! :)
