Okay, here's the story. I've got a Dell Studio XPS 1340M that I'm trying to keep going. Right now its running Vista Home Basic 32 bit. It's capable of running 64 bit and I want to jump from 4gb RAM to 8GB of RAM. To that end, I thought I'd get a new SSD to replace the old HDD and install Win 7 64 bit. Afterwards, I'd go back and transfer the files I backed up from the HDD.
First, is this technically possible? (pretty sure it is, but hey, I'm pretty new to this)
Second, can I just swap the hard drives and install Win 7 from the optical drive?
Third, how can I get the drivers needed for the new OS?
First time posting and first time trying anything more complicated than popping in new RAM or wireless card. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
