Hi all,

Looking for some helpful assistance please. I am fairly new to putting together pc's and have just put together my second one with help of someone else.

Old pc with fx -6300 and gtx 750 ran csgo at a steady 150-250 on medium/high settings.

Just put together new pc yesterday and it can only run csgo on medium around 70-80 and it is really choppy. Seems like the comp overall is running slower/ worse than the old one.

League of legends seems to have the same issue.

I also have asus m5a97 le 2.0. / hyperfuryx 8gb ddr3 1600.

Looking for any ideas or help on what is going wrong!

Thank you so much for any help, I will truly appreciate it.

AMD FX CPUs are relatively slow, hard on motherboards, and are furnaces that are hard to keep cool. Most of them are very noisy with the included stock cooler. Even so, 47c is not concerning, but that's only at idle. Keep an eye on CPU temperature and frequency while gaming, and report back.
The FX-8320 is clocked a little slower than the FX-6300, and CS:GO doesn't use more than ~2 cores, so I wouldn't expect the FX-8320 to be any faster even with 2 extra cores. However, I also wouldn't expect it to be significantly slower, either. My guess is that your CPU isn't reaching its proper clockspeed, possibly from the motherboard or CPU overheating or motherboard VRMs throttling. Are settings identical on both, both in-game and in the nVidia control panel? Identical operating systems? Drivers are up-to-date?

Thank you for the reply. All video drivers are up to date according to Gforce Experience. And motherboard drivers are up to date as well. One thing you pointed out I thought could be of concern as well is the operating system. The freshly installed windows7 SL1 refuses to update for some reason. It has been stuck on " searching for updates" for over 15 hours now. Are the updates potentially that crucial on the performance of the PC? Currently looking for solutions for this as well. Also i noticed on HWmonitor that my computer freshly turned on the CPU sits at about 47C with nothing running. And the fan is super duper loud with nothing running.

In order to get your windows 7 to update, you will need to make sure Internet Explorer is up to date, this might require you to physically download and install updates www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/windows.aspx download the patches that are necessary for your system. KB947821, and KB3102810 Are the fixes that have allowed me to update ie. untill you get all of your drivers updated you will find that you will have poor results across the board.
