I am looking, for a friend, a cheaper mobo that is still good, has plenty of usb ports sata ports ect. I am trying to talk him into getting a 1070 instead of an r9 390 since it would be way better in the long run when it's not that much more expensive. He just can't justify the cost for some reason unless I could find a way to cut back in another place..

see if you have a local micro center use there cpu and mb combo deals. on gaming mb be care full if you go to cheap there not sli cirt or tested. some of the cheaper 170 mb have the video slots wired as 16x and 4x. when your looking at the mb look at the sound and ethernet chipset used. as you go cheaper they use older realtech chipset for both sound and ethernet.

At $200 for the Krait Gaming a lot of motherboards are cheaper.

$150: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/Q9Gj4D/asus-motherboard-z170a
$138: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/rskwrH/gigabyte-motherboard-gaz170xgaming3
$125 (after rebate): https://pcpartpicker.com/product/NqRFf7/asrock-z170-extreme4-atx-lga1151-motherboard-z170-extreme4

However we really need to know what else your friend is trying to do. Is he overclocking? Does he need an SLI or Crossfire enabled motherboard? Is he looking for a particular color scheme?

Prolly shoulda said he is getting a 6700 non K.. and he wants white because of his case but like I don't think it'll matter significantly if it's black or even has small red accents as his ram heatsinks are red. and I really wish I knew more about this xD I splurged a bit on my build and just got an maximus viii hero so I never really had to worry about making sure every little thing was good ._.
