Recently purchased Zotac GeForce GTX 1070 Founders Edition and just noticed the GPU temp is 84c at full load.

My room temp is around 24c and the PC is brand new.

Is 84c temp acceptable or should I be worried ?

Please help !

Cool air is lower to the ground. It will attract more dust, yes, but it will be cooler. Just be vigilant with keeping the dust inside under control.

As for the location under the desk... I'd rotate the case 90° so that the front of the case is facing to the right instead. This should free up the intake for the GPU that is on the left side of the case. Assuming there is one there. I don't recognize that case but most have intakes on the right side. I suggest you consider adding additional fans, if there isn't any, that feed the area the GPU is in.

I have my computer inside a lower cabinet that is part of my desk. Although, I've optimized airflow so it works efficiently in it's location. My temperatures never climbed above 65°C with my...

That's pretty high. 85 C is when it starts to throttle the card a bit to keep the heat down. Anything above 90-95 C and I'd be very concerned, though. EVGA's fan profile should have increased to lower the temperature at that point. Looks like it wasn't even to 50% fan speed yet. Maybe try manually setting the curve to be a bit more aggressive? I'd aim for it maxing the fan at ~80 C.

Weird. Yes you should get worried, it's not normal for a 1070 to run that hot. Have you tried downloading the MSI afterburner and crank your fan speed up manually? Ideally you would want to play around 50-70% under load. Also, is there enough airflow in your computer? How many case fans do you have? Or does your system have enough breathing room or something is choking it like a big cabinet or something that can block the air nearby? There are alot of factors that affect GPU temp. If you don't have a good airflow then 84c will be somewhat expected.

Here is a link where to dl the afterburner: https://gaming.msi.com/features/afterburner

Cheers.

Incanuslol is using EVGA Precision X as can be seen in the picture. There is no need to download and use MSI Afterburner. Well, unless you can't adjust settings on the card through Precision X.

Hey, thanks for the quick reply.

Actually, my PC is sitting below my desk. Attached a pic.

Oh wait I actually didn't click the photo so that fault would be on my side! LMAO and man, do not put your desktop under your desk! Nonononononono! Look at all the tech reviewers on youtube and you will see them have their pcs on top of their desk!

Cheers.

My temperatures never climbed above 65°C with my i7-920 running @ 4GHz using an old Thermalrite Ultra 120 Extreme with a weak fan. Granted, my house stays a chilly 21°C most of the time. :p
