Some advice on a new rig/upgrade please :)

Current state:
- AMD FX 6300 furnace
- Asus M5A97 R2.0
- Patriot Viper3 2x4GB 1600MHz DDR3
- Kingston V300 256GB SSD
- WD Blue 1TB HDD
- Corsair CX500M PSU
- Corsair H80i w/cooler
- Gigabyte G1 GTX1060 6GB

My Q4 plan
- Intel Core i5 6500
- MSI H170 Gaming M3
- Kingston HyperX Savage 2x8GB 3000MHz DDR4
- SSD, HDD, GPU, PSU, cooler should remain the same.

I do not intend to overclock so the K series and Z170 chipsets are overkill for me.

Opinions? Is it worth upgrading?

Solution
Very much worth upgrading, especially since the AMD FX series is so weak right now. They haven't aged well. Especially compared to the Intel i5 6500.

However, I do suggest G.Skill RAM over Kingston, I find them more reliable with excellent pricing.

Overall, great build and a definite upgrade that you will see a lot of performance from.

They haven't aged well, especially compared to the 6500, that's because the 6500 is current gen ;)

I do agree though. the FX line is fairly weak as of RIGHT now but Zen drops in October if you can wait and then re-open a thread?

as of now though that i5 idea you got going on is pretty good. Only change I'd make is the mobo as a Gigbyte H170 Gaming-3
