Hi guys,
I am looking for replacement for r9 390. GPU reaches high temperatures and performance in DX11 isn't really that great. Also I just got a new monitor so resolution has changed so I noticed some additional decline in performance.

Resolution:2560x1080
CPU:i5-6600k - 4,4Ghz
PSU:680W Fortron with Gold certification

Which card should I get ? I was wondering if I should get Fury/X because of DX12 or gtx1070

Solution

1. no

2. yeah, way overpriced for its lackluster performance

3. gtx 1070
Your R9 390 should handle that ok imo - maybe not at max settings, but do you NEED max settings? Which version of the 390 do you have - when fitted with a good cooler it doesn't run particularly hot (maybe 65-70 deg C). But to answer your question, the 1070 is definitely a better buy than Fury imo - you really need the extra VRAM for higher resolutions.

Well, as far as VRAM goes the fact that the Fury X has HBM lets it compete with virtually anything of equal processing power from the Nvidia side (I'm still salty that Nvidia lied about HBM2 on their high end cards), however the GTX 1070 offers higher raw performance.

Problem is that my gpu for whatever reason runs at 94C. I even changed thermal paste on gpu(double checked that everything fits as it should). Also performance seems little bit different than I expected based on bechmarks.

Would be Fury X/ fury more future proof thanks to the DX12 thing ? Also I can get fury(non x) for 115 euro cheaper than gtx1070.

Price of Fury X is basically on level of gtx1080 = not worth the money :/

Let's say that I want gpu for next 2 years - what would you recommend ?
