im in the middle of my new computer build i was planning on having a i7 6700k and two gtx 1080s and 32gb ram although im not sure if i should carry on and get a 6700k and wait for a kaby lake i7

Solution
If you wait for the next best thing, you will wait forever.
My best speculation is that high end Kaby lake desktop parts like I7-7700K will be only a token performance upgrade and might have much imporoved integrated graphics.
Much like the broadwell update.

What might be more interesting will be the 270 chipset.
It is expected to support high bandwidth Optane ssd type devices.
I would hope that Optane will be available and fast on current gen Z170 chipsets.

If you have a need now, carry on.
Should I7-7700K be a killer cpu, you should always be able to change out the I7-6700K

the thing is, if you want to buy a new pc now, then get it now.
if you're getting one for Christmas, then review the matter in november.

I agree that kaby lake will probably not be worth it. I assume 100-200MHz more stock clock, maybe better boost clocks, probably better efficiency, but nothing big and considering the price (which I assume will be ridiculous upon release) the 6700k will do fine
however the Z270 boards could be interesting. but again, if your pc is dying now, get a new one now. I can't imagine a Z170 board going out of date in the next 4 years.

Rumor has it that the 7700K (?) will come with a factory 4.5ghz turbo, compared with 4.2 for the 6700K. Practically all 6700K's hit above 4.5ghz anyway, and they'll both be built on the same process. I don't think either is a wrong choice; I wouldn't feel bad about buying a Skylake system now.

Unlikely. Intel doesn't drop prices on their older CPUs, they simply stop making them. If anything, prices may rise as supply disappears.

not in here we always have the old ones hehe. until now there's still some ivy bridge displayed at local stores... classic huh?

One more thing prices may come down also if no one is buying them...
