PC problem with ethernet connection

tested the ethernet on my laptop and works fine. when i plug it into pc the light lights up but my pc doesnt recognize it. when i go into device manager i can't see it under network adapters

Not sure that I understand your requirements.

However if you are attempting to have your laptop and pc communicate then what you need is an "ad hoc" network.

That is a different setup/configuration than setting up a network where the laptop and pc are devices on or joining that network.

Overall, can you provide further explanation or a diagram of what you wish (requirements) to do? Thanks
