Msi GTX 970 Wont boot up HELP

Hey!
I've been for the past 3 hours trying to fix this with multiple methods.

Problem is I installed a new GTX 970 from MSI today and it starts, spins for a couple of sec and the light works but I wont get any signal to the monitor.

I have tried uninstalling my GTX 480 drivers, I have tried installing the drivers from the disc that included with the 970, I have tried another PC that I have, I have tried checking so everything is really connected, I have tried HDMI and Displayport, I've even tried updating BIOS.
But nothing works and the 970 still wont work for me.

Rest of the PC works with a GTX 480 and GTX 560ti, got both tried both. Both works.

System specs
*P9X79 Asus
*I7 3820 watercooled
*24GB xms3 ram
*750W PSU

If there's something I've missed trying please help me.

This problem is not possible for me to solve. I need newer BIOS and for that I need CAP-Converter.
For those with the same problem, go to closest IT/PC helping shop and see if they can help you.

It should display something to the screen without any video drivers at all, so I doubt drivers are the issue.

Did you plug in the 6pin and 6+2pin power connectors into the 970 from the psu?

Are you plugging your display cable into the back of the gpu and not the motherboard?

I don't have on board graphics, I7 3820 Doesn't have that, and yes I plugged it in from the PSU, as I said I tested a GTX 480 and that works, and the 480 has 6+2 and 6pin as well.

maybe just incompatible ? first you need full uefi bios on the motherboard then even with that you need a latest bios that may support newer cards [this was a issue with like z68 and sandybridge platforms ]

thing is I go to asus to look at support of your board and its a blank page with no support info ?/ [asus at its best ]

if nothing else try the card in another capable computer to insure it not just a bad card

you can see how on some boards the use of a 900 card or newer can require the latest bios on the boards to work proper?? [if your lucky ]

I tried it in my other PC but that PC has an i7 950 so it's also old but the motherboard on that PC is X58A so I don't know for sure if it's outdated drivers, incapability or whatever it may be.

Re-wire your system to the power supply and make sure you install the correct drivers.

i'm going to say something really stupid but maybe the GPU ports are broken? Or your monitors cable isn't good? (Have you tried the monitor on another PC).

well that's the thing you have for what I see no support from asus on that board anymore nothing no bios no drivers not a thing on its support page that I get on it ,

like you can see some of those older boards need a new release or latest bios 's to support newer cards , but asus seems to have that took care of as they seem to offer nothing on the boards support page ???

see older 700 and below cards don't have these little requirements like full uefi bios required and all that

the trend today is you support them they don't support you anymore ..

you now need to find a buddy that's got a newer build and monitor to see if the card is good .. that old / dropped of support stuff you got may not cut it anymore on newer parts..

just to add MSI 970 cards had the least issues overall and worked on boards where other brands did not seemed evga had the most issue

tough call you just got a few thing working against you on all this

well I linked asus U.S.A you may try asus in another country or asus global site and find a good support page for your board

I ran in to this with one of my ''LAST'' asus boards asus U.S.A dropped it from there site but was still all at asus global

another reason why I ditched ASUS

man all ready looks like a lot of hoop jumping and for the bios at that is added bad risk -- why anyone thinks asus is so great is beyond me

see like a HP computer a few cant use a 900 or newer card as well cause there bios are not compatible if you notice as with this asus it for windows 8 support and that's something that is said at HP about there computers not for win-8 and 700 cards or belowe will work but 900 will not ..

I guess its not easy to understand but its something I followed along the way on these cards

so right now unless you got just a bad cad [withch I dought ] it just the card and your boards bios just don't want to play nice

Right now I am not looking into updating BIOS because I aint going into an unknown territory that might ruin my entire PC.

Your help has been appreciated but sadly Asus just doesn't care. I will now run on a 480 and play less demanding games, I am however in my first year on Gymnasium (Europe things) and I will most likely have less time to play so it will not bother me too much.

Gymnasium = School after "Ground school", Gymnasium is school that we have between age 16-19. and I have found where to get CAP-Converter, you go to the asus website, go under "Other" at OS instead of picking the OS that you have, and there you will find BIOS-Utilities. Stupid place I know, and if you wonder what I am confirmed doing now. I went to a PC help store that I have nearby and I will have them updating the BIOS for me (So if they fuck up I don't have to pay for it), and also checking that the card is not 100% faulty, so everything is good for now, I can update you later if you wonder if it really was the outdated BIOS or if it was the card itself.

maybe the best bet if they goof it up its on them to make right ?? like I said my ''LAST'' 3 asus were my last , but that's just me and how I got to feel about them like things as this

alos do reply back on how it went for others to know if they run in to this issue as well

Hi! this is like a month after actually... ye stupid but I got my PC back 2 days ago and they didn't even fix the problem, I have no clue what they did but for almost a month they couldn't upgrade the BIOS and I'm actually really upset about that but nothing I can do in my power, they couldn't say if it was the card who was DoA which is even more stupid. Anyways I did however yesterday decided to try updating the BIOS myself and I did it successfully without any issues what so ever and now my PC works perfectly with the new card... aah "PC-Experts", what a waste of 60$.

I updated BIOS via downloading BIOS-Cap-Converter from ASUS website and following the guide.
This is how I did for those who have the same issue:

1. Download BIOS-Cap-Converter
2. Read the manual of how to use BIOS Flash. (This manual follows with the Converter)
3. Format a 4-32GB usb stick to FAT32 (Make sure it has no other files in it to be on the safe side)
4. Put the BIOS-Cap-Converter into the USB root directory and rename it to your motherboard's name (in this case P9X79)(Those who has P9X79 Pro need to rename it to P9X79PRO)
5.Turn off the PC and put the USB stick into the BIOS Flash dedicated USB connection when the PC is fully off (make sure the PC) and then hold the BIOS Flash button for 3 seconds and it will start to flash.
6. After a couple of seconds, 20-30seconds for me it will stop flash and at that point you can turn on your PC.
7. It should now have the new BIOS installed (For me it became BIOS 2104)

You can also update BIOS by using other methods but this is the one I used.

To update BIOS to 4701 it's pretty much same process.
If you decide to update BIOS make some research because this guide is not a perfect explanation of how to fix issues incase it may happend. Updating BIOS is a risk.

Now my GTX 970 is fully working in my PC and I've not gotten into any problems so far.

well good deal I was trying to point out asus bios flashing can be a hoop jump here as well so you got to look at it a bit harder then other brands that are still more ''cut and dry'' flashing ?? [as it should be ]
