I have been using a 2-year-old Acer laptop for most of my computing needs but AutoCAD runs okay and Revit and SketchUp are just completely buggy and barely usable.

I am looking for a laptop that should be able to run those programs smoothly. Does not have to be lag-free but just enough to work with. I do not care if it is IPS or not but 1080p FHD would be good. Most features are optional (touchscreen, keyboard back-light, etc.)

Most laptops I have seen only have a i5 or i7 processor with Intel HD Graphics 520. I personally don't think that will get a comfortable experience but I have not seen any benchmarks so if you have personal experience please let me know.

My budget is around $1000 limit but I would prefer a much cheaper laptop around ~$700-800.

I have been searching around and any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

You need to be looking at the mobile workstation class laptops from Lenovo, HP, or Dell. These models have workstation class video cards to handle the type of work you do. Unfortunately, they are not cheap. In your price range you will need to be looking for a refurb model, which you can find online from reputable sources.
