Hey guys, I am about 3/4th of the way built on my new computer. I have a corsair rm1000x, MSI godlike carbon x99, 2 gskill ddr4 3200 16 gig. had an pny ssd480 while installing the ssd i plugged it in and was trying to install the OS when as soon as i kicked power on to the system i heard the short and smelled smoke coming from the SSD. I panicked and shut it down, SSD is totally fried and doesn't pick up the card in BIOS or anything, everthing else seems to work fine, and I have a 1080 waiting to go in but I am afraid that It will burn that so I want to make sure I am not gonna burn anything else I put in it.

Solution
It probably only damaged your SSD. Power on computer without SSD, see if there is a bad smell or some other electrical anormal situation. If there isn't any then its good. Also your GPU will use different power cable. If something were happaned to PSU you would know that(from sound or smell, anything like that).
