Will replacing Corsair 500R side panel with Window raise temps?

Hi,

I have a corsair 500R case right now and I hate the mesh side panel. I heard there is a replacement window DIY kit for 50.00 you can get, however I'm just wondering if doing that will raise the temps too high in the case. I have 2 140mm fans on the side panel right now so I'd be giving them up. I have a 120mm noctua exhaust at the back top, and 2 120mm noctuas in front of the drives (the top 2 are from the corsair h100i).

The CPU does not get hot currently.

I have 1 1080 right now that runs about 67-68C under full load with 60-70% fan speed. However I am looking to SLI 2 cards, so I am wondering if that will be too much heat with just a window on there.

Any ideas on how that may affect it?

Thank you,

Side windows mostly affect the gpu load temperatures by about several degrees (mileage may vary).

This test showed a 12C difference between no fan vs 120mm fan.

If you can deal with more noise / higher gpu temps with a windowed case, by all means go for it. A lot of folks eventually look for water cooling if they go for windowed cases for noise/temp reduction.
