I have a Corsair H1500 headset. Me and my uncle opened up my computer for some reason and we unplugged all of the wires and then plugged them in all in again. and everything works fine. Even my headset sound! I was wondering if there was something i missed plugging into and my mic wont pick up my sound. it worked beforehand. And if i look in my recording devices sometimes it will light up when i tap on the mic, when that happens i activate the listen to mic option and nothing comes through. its very confusing stuff..

Check both front and rear audio jacks, are they both not working? If only the front ones don't, check the motherboard to case cables.
