My dad and I are putting together a new setup from (kinda) scratch for the first time, using new parts where necessary and salvaging old parts where possible. The old parts we will be using are:
- Hard Drive
- Optical Drive (not bluray)
- 500W PSU (Corsair)
- Old case
- Fan(s)

Here is the list of the new parts we are wanting to incorporate into the rig:
- Motherboard - MSI B150M Mortar LGA 1151 Intel B150 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 Micro ATX Intel
- Processor - Intel core i5 6600K Quad-core 3.5 GHz
- GPU - MSI GeForce GTX 1060 DirectX 12 GTX 1060 GAMING X 3G 3GB 192-Bit GDDR5
- SSD - Samsung 120GB 750 EVO SSD SATA III 2.5"
- Memory - G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2133

Just wanted some input on whether or not this would be a viable setup. Thank you in advance for your help!

Solution
The 6600k is meant for overclocking so you're paying extra for it, but the B150 motherboards do not support overclocking. The 6600k also does not come with a cooler forcing you to spend even more.

Other than cost benefits, why would one choose the i5 6500 over the 6600K? Dad and I found a deal on Newegg for a 6600K selling at $219.99 while the 6500 is $204.99. Is it not worth the $15 to upgrade? And this B150M Mortar Mobo is only about $83, so it's not expensive. What specific mobo would you recommend instead of the Mortar and why would you choose it over the Mortar?
