Hi, I got an A10-7850K/280x build and i'm looking to upgrade to Skylake or anything good for the purpose. I play some older CPU intensive or-so-they-say stuff like modded Skyrim for example. I eventually plan to get something like a 1070 or around that range, and I don't want a bottleneck. But right now I just wanna start by the CPU upgrade, which also means another motherboard and RAM perhaps. Budget for CPU, RAM, and Motherboard is "around" $400. But I'm open to suggestions outside the range.

Thanks in advance for the help!

If you can go out of over $400 (will handle and graphics card alive today)

Skyrim is highly single-thread bottlenecked, so a Core i3 6100 would be a significant upgrade. In games that are well-threaded, such as Battlefield, it's only going to be a small upgrade. An i5 6500 would be far better in every way, but the i3 should help significantly in older games.

Also consider getting a Samsung 850 evo SSD or Samsung's 950 M.2 SSD if you have the dough.
