Hi forumers,

I would like your opinion between these 2 configurations:

1) i7-6500U, 16GB DDR3L 1600Mhz, 128GB M.2 SATA
2) i5-6200U, 8GB DDR4 2133Mhz, 180GB M.2 SATA.

Which is better?
I will be using the laptop for home use, web surfing, the occasional engineering calculations (eg Mathlab) and the usual multi-tasking
No heavy graphics rendering or video editing.

Thanks.

Solution
Not in a laptop. Skylake can use DDR3L or DDR4, and laptops commonly use DDR3L.

Laptops don't have the longevity to worry too much about 'future proofing'.

Yep, they are similarly priced.
The i7 is on the Sager NP3240 where I am to opting for no drive installed because I have a spare M.2 SATA.
The i5 is on a HP Elitebook 840 G3 custom configuration where I chose to have a SSD.

So there is no real advantage in terms of future proofing for the i5 having the DDR4 over the i7 with DDR3L?
