I just received my new motherboard that I purchased. I opened it and removed it from its static protection. Before i did this, I touched some metal and i was standing on a tiled floor. I removed it and i was holding it on the plastic parts. As I was doing this, I heard a tiny cracking sound. My fingers were touching some sharp metal bits at the bottom. I am really worried about my mobo and I cant install it now. Please help!!

It might turn on or it might not. Although, if it is damaged, I doubt it would get past POST.
You never know, it might be fine!

I cannot install it right now that's the problem. If the mobo is damaged by static, will it not work at all?

I don`t know what your situation is with your build (weather you are slowly gathering parts or just not up to putting things together now...), You don`t know till you put it together (like others said). Just because you heard a little noise doesn`t mean it`s finished. If you are gathering parts slowly and will not know weather it works till much later, I would suggest returning it and getting another board (although this does cost more money, it will ensure you get a working piece as well as it may be more difficult to make return after, I don`t know your timeframe)

WHy can;t you install it?

Hello again, this problem was bothering me so I took my motherboard out again and repeated my steps from the previous time I took it out(but I made sure I wasnt carrying any static) and the small sounds I thought was a static shock was actually the sound of the motherboard bending as I was holding it! Im so releived! Thanks again
