I was looking to get a graphics card for my white build and was looking for a gtx 1070.

The Founders Edition looks nice and would perfectly match my build. But would an aftermarket card be better like the MSI GTX 1070 Gaming X?

I wouldn't like the machine to be very loud. But the card is red and wouldn't match the build, would an aftermarket card be noticeably quicker? (8+fps or more then FE)

Any recommendations on fastest/quietest gtx 1070 or will the FE do me fine?

Solution
DO NOT get a founders edition card, they suffer from thermal throttling and are very loud.
An aftermarket solution will boost to higher clock speeds, and cool much quieter and more efficiently while costing less than the Founder's edition.
@Pigeoncracker, you will not gain 15FPS over the reference card with an aftermarket solution, you'd be looking at on average about 5-10fps, as they both use GPU Boost 3.0 to achieve higher speeds.
@OP, if you want to get a color scheme that matches what I assume is a green build, get this:
Offers RGB lighting, and can be changed to green via the EVGA Precision X software, and very good speeds and temps at a great price...

The aftermarket card would not be noticeably quicker, but noticeable quieter and easier to play around with. You could gain 15 FPS over the reference card if you're lucky, diffidently getting 8 more FPS. The aftermarket card is also going to be a lot cheaper than the premium that Nvidia most likely charges for their reference designs. Otherwise, you could look around and try to find a silver and black third party 1070. I'm sure they're out there.

I didn't say that they would, unless they're lucky and the card boosted that high. I'm sure that they'd be able to eek out 15 more FPS with overclocking. Jeez, savage. I'm just kidding. I agree with you on the founders editions cards. Do they have a reason they sell those? I know they skipped founders shenanigans with the 1060.

If you still can't achieve that 15FPS increase with overclocking, well, I'll remember that. I haven't gotten to play with one yet. I know there was a significant increase on most benchmarks.

Is there also a reason that the FTW edition cheaper than the orignal ACX 3.0 ? The RGB lighting is included aswell correct it would work great with my white case!? I aprreciate your contribution :)

^.^
No worries, as long as you learn from it it's fine. :)
You wouldn't believe how many stubborn people are on this forum... :(
They sell their own proprietary cards, as it has been the norm for as long as they've been around, and they make a higher profit margin compared to AIB cards.
This generation they decided to spend a bit more on their own R&D department to revamp their cooler for the new Pascal series, and price it $100 higher than partners so they don't undercut them as they had in the past.
This has resulted in some price gauging however, as partners initially used this to hike up their prices to make more cash in the first month or so following the launch of the cards, this wasn't helped by short supply either.
The issue seems resolved now though, as cards are more reasonably priced.
Overclocked it's about the same, at 1080p at BEST 10FPS, at 1440p compared to reference I saw 7c with the EVGA SC. (I run a small business and test hardware for consistency every shipment to ensure we're not selling faulty products)

Most likely an issue with pricing on the ACX, i'd say it should go for about $420, but it isn't that great.
Yes it would, the standard white LEDs are also very vibrant.

So the EVGA 1070 FTW is better than the founders edition and one of the best types of 1070's? I just want great performance and with so many options its hard to seem to pick the right one :)

Before i go ahead and order the parts is there anything i can do to prevent coil whine or any other sound issues?
I've heard a few reports of FTW coil whining so i just want to make sure it all works out.
Im going to buy a

and is there a power supply i could choose to avoid the coil whine or any other sound issues?

I'd love to hear your input thanks!

No, coil whine is a factory defect, you'll find reports of it with every card, just go with it! :)
Power supply has no input on coil whine, but you should still have a decent one.
I'll put a full build together for you.
What's your budget and what parts do you already have?

Thanks man, I'm a computer noob I've only built one. Would 30 for a 2 year protection plan be a good idea for the GPU?

I appreciate all the time you've taken out to answer my questions. If there is a way I can vote you up or commend you on Tom's hardware let me know :)

No I wouldn't get the FTW card it has the reference pcb and it isn't that good nor is cooling. How about the asus ROG strix 1070 I am pretty sure that is what I am getting.

The FTW has a custom PCB, and has a great cooler with some of the best in class performance.
Just because a card uses the reference board anyway, doesn't mean it is poor performing.
The Asus ROG 1070 has a reference board, what do you have to say about that mate? :)

No iI am talking about the non OC and I have done heaps of research and unless you want a red gpu that is a good card.

lol clock speeds do not matter gpu boost boost them up anyway it really does not give you any substantial gains in fps.

What I've read on other forums about GTX 1070 I'd be inclined to say it's more about silicon lottery than specific make/model of the card that determines the maximum boost clock you get. Usually people seem to get around 2000-2100MHz boost and very few even a bit higher than that (and some people had cards not even reaching 2000MHz boosts)without crashing/artifacts. Someone has said that he got more steady boost on the EVGA FTW compared to some other model. Although the extra power doesn't seem to help much since it is more likely to hit voltage limits.
