Anything. Literally, anything.

Dying Light, Arma 3, Arc Survival Evolved, Don't Starve, Black Ops 3, The Long Dark and Rust are all games that I firmly recommend.

Especially Dying Light and Arma 3. Both are beautiful games and are relatively fun.

The best of them all is Don't Starve, in my humble opinion.

The best thing about computer gaming is the sheer amount of Indie games in the market. Just explore.

Overwatch is a great team-based FPS. There's also TF2, even if most of the community is drawing away. Counter Strike: Global Offensive and Left For Dead 2 are practically musts to play.

For survival games, definitely check out The Long Dark. It's currently in Early Access (I will rarely buy these titles, as they're never guaranteed to release in full), but it gets regular updates and even has a campaign mode with a story.

More survival titles that are popular are Don't Starve, Don't Starve Together,

For shooters... Deus Ex: Mankind Divided has just released, and people seem to be digging it, although it does have some stealth orientation.
Alien Rage is a great, underrated sci-fi shooter.
If you enjoy online shooters, Counterstrike: Global Offensive is a must have.
Gears of War Ultimate Edition from the Windows Store for PC is an amazing upgrade to the original.
POSTAL Redux is an excellent top-down shooter.

And for GOD SAKE stay away from DayZ. That game will NEVER be finished. It's been in Early Access for what... six years now? Ark - Survival Evolved is also very poorly optimized and you may not have a good experience due to that.

It's really hard to say about Rust... I haven't really kept up with it, but I've kind of lumped Rust, H1Z1, and DayZ all together as perpetual unfinished money-making schemes. Looks like H1Z1 was even re-released to make it look like it had gotten somewhere. Can't remember which one, but one of them had their zombies completely patched out, and have been for over a year. It's gross.

I also think Ark is going down the same path.
